Apple Dot Shoes

Soft soled baby shoes are said to be the best thing for babies and tots that are still learning how to walk. Soft soled shoes allow them to still “feel” the ground with their feet so they can wear shoes to protect their feet with out hindering balance and coordination.  My son who is 15 months old and still not walking has given me plenty of time to shop around for soft soled shoes, and once he decides to get up and go I don’t want anything (like thick hard soled uncomfortable shoes) to get in his way. We live in Hawaii so most of the time he goes barefoot. Like a lot of children in Hawaii he doesn’t like shoes when it’s time to wear them because he’s so used to going with out them. Remember we don’t wear our shoes in the house either. Robeeze is the popular brand of soft shoes for babies and tots. I’ve been looking for something comparable to Robeeze soft soled style baby shoes for some time now. I like Robeeze but hate the price. $30 for a brand new pair at Baby Gap. I was over joyed to find this little shop on Etsy, all the way from Canada, littlejumpingbeans. I’ve seen other soft soled baby shoes on etsy, but by far these are the best ones on Etsy, and only $14 a pair! I also love the fabric and designs. LittleJumpingBeans‘s shoes are made out of high quality designer fabrics and cute Kawaii imported Japanese fabrics.

The design I chose has little blue and green guitars on it. What caught my eye with these shoes are the little grippy dots used for the soles.

Replacing the Bug Exhibition at Pearlridge is the Food Drive ‘Canstruction’ Competition located in the central lobby of Uptown. Donated can goods for the Hawaii Food Bank were sculpted by local Hawaii architects, design and engineering professionals. The Theme this year is Statehood. The sculptures included Aloha Tower, the Arizona memorial and a great big Hawaii State Quarter. To vote for your favorite design throw a can in the shopping cart next to your sculpture from now until August  29th 2009. All donated caned goods will go to help feed Hawaii’s hungry. My favorite this year is the local Shave Ice rainbow flavored canstuction near the elevator and Starbucks. My runner ups go to the Aloha Shirt and poi pounder designs.

Just visited Hawaii’s new Lego Store in Ala Moana Shopping Center today. What?!?  Hawaii didn’t have a lego store?, lol not that I know of, and I’ve lived here all my life. It’s small but still really cool. I wish I had a point and shoot, because the pictures from my camera phone didn’t turn out that great. There where lots of great displays. An Employee told me that local Hawaii Lego Club members got together to build different displays for the opening.

The Bus

The Bus

My favorite was this Bus display. Legos modeled after Hawaii’s  “The BUS”, I guess we’re proud of our transit system. There was also a really great beach display with palm trees, a killer wave, and even a lifeguard shack. I don’t know how long the displays are going to be around, so if you’re local go down to Ala Moana and check it out. It would be fun and exciting if they decide to continually update and create new designs. That would definitely draw me into the store every time. The sets they sell are also very cool, but pretty pricey, almost $300 for this carousel design! I didn’t know Legos cost so much.
